Rhodes Supply Co. was founded in 1954 and distributed lumber, plywood & supplied millwork locally and nationally. The Rhodes family had previously owned a hardware store in the Cuba area before selling lumber materials. Thus, Ms. Faye Rhodes desired to sponsor a hardware store in memory of her late husband, Harold "Gene" Rhodes.

The Rhodes Hardware Store at Cartwright Grove has several of the original items that were previously in Rhodes Supply. Those include Mr. Gene's desk, chair & old nail bin. Also one of the original signs is mounted on the outside parfait wall. The Rhodes Hardware Building is used at times as a concession stand to serve food to our visitors. The building was finished March 29, 2022.

Our nations first lumber yard was established in the early to mid 1600's. As colonies expanded westward, so did the lumber industry. By mid 1800's there was over 1000 lumber yards in operation. As the lumber industry continued to grow, the railroad system expanded in order to accommodate the thriving lumber industry. Today there are over 10,000 lumber yards across the United States
